The objectives of the Fiji Association of Architects are:
  • The advancement of an appropriate Pacific architecture
  • The guidance of the study of architecture and creating greater public awareness of architecture and services offered by architects
  • The encouragement of sound building practices
  • The promotion of the interests of the profession.
Since independence, Fiji architects have developed into a body committed to serving the national needs in architecture.

As experience is assimilated and the profession evolves, directions for architecture in the region have begun to emerge. There is growing awareness and commitment to evolving an appropriate Pacifican architecture related to island cultures, resources, climate and natural hazards; an architecture which draws not only on tradition but taps global networks of scientific and technical knowledge and mobilizes the fund of resident design and craft skills.

The past few years have been of particular significance: the membership is beginning to reap the benefits of the untiring efforts of the previous Councils.

With their intimate knowledge and experience of local conditions and by example of fine buildings, Fiji Architects have demonstrated the professional talent and resources available within the Pacific Island Region.

Fiji and the Pacific Island region is at the brink of an architecture with its roots in the past, its image in the present and its spirit in the future.
